abs light is on

ok i have a stupid question. my abs light is on in my 01 st. i am pretty sure i need to change brake pads i got under the truck and found that i had no idea how to take it off. the only way i have ever taken off a brake pad is by.(useing the socket with the alan wrench in the middle) sorry i couldnt think of what it was called. but it has no where to use this tool. it may just be because i am used to working on older vehichles i did see to regular bolts and it also had a button on the side. so im not sure how to do it.

That's how to change brake pads but I doubt that will fix the ABS light issue. Your light is the yellow "ABS" and not the red "BRAKE", correct? Find an independent repair shop and have them plug their scan tool into the data link connector and read the code for you. Then come back and post the code.

ok i will do that and yes it is the yellow one but now every so often my emergency brake light comes on but then goes off after a few sec. or min. but i check just to make sure if it is truely on and it is not. but thanks for the tip.
