Hi guys,
I've got a1999 Explorer 4.0 litre XLT which I have just had converted to dual fuel, i.e. petrol / LPG. Putting a 2nd computer onboard, to handle the LPG Multipoint injection, seems to have caused a problem with the ABS indicator. The indication is lit all the time that the ignition is switched on, I'm advised that it doesn't matter, but I'm concerned that the ABS may not be working properly because of the indication. Short of hammering down the road and hitting the brakes real hard, I've no other way of telling. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks, Dave

It may be your ABS sensors in the front wheel bearing/hub assemblies. That is the most typical cause.

Hi Blee, Thanks for your suggestion re the front hub sensors, but I'm not too sure as I had a Ford Recall for the cruise control wiring loom and I converted to LPFG fuel all within a fortnight.
My first thought was that it was caused by the conversion and introducing another computer to talk to the Explorer computer, as the light was on when I collected the vehicle from the company converting it. However, I had Ford looking at the wiring loom the previous week re the Recall, and they then fitted a new part, for the Recall, the week after the conversion. I've read on a forum that the cruise control wiring can introduce such a fault, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some more light on it for me.
Thanks, Dave
