The front ABS brakes on my 1993 XLT (111,000 miles) have started making a grrrrrrr sound when even lightly applied (like when pulling up to a stop sign). Any idea what could cause this? Is this something I can fix on my own with the right part? Thanks in advance for any help.

One of the sensors is ruined, you can deactivate the ABS and it'll stop, but your ABS light will come on on the console and of course you'll lose ABS.

That's what I was afraid of, but then I was reading in the forum about the dreaded transmission thump during a second gear to first gear shift - which my vehicle also does - and how this sometimes will set off the ABS. How are these two issues related? Any idea what a new ABS sensor would cost and is it something I can replace myself? Thanks for any help.

Does the truck pull to the left or right during the grind?

always wanting to learn something. How do you know it's the ABS and not a pad that's worn till the steel of the pad (lining is gone) is into the rotor?
