ISO ABS Speed Sensor location(s) on my 1994 Explorer XLT 4x4 automatic.

I have an intermittent ABS dash light issue and can feel the ABS motor kick in for no reason at times. Thought I might check the sensors. BTW is the ABS Speed Sensor also known as the "wheel" sensor?

BIG Thanks in advance!

The front two sensors are located in the front of the spindles, you can follow the electric line that runs along the hydraulic hoses to the brake calipers and it leads to the inner part of the sensor. They are held in with bolts though, and the metal sensor part is actually wedged into the spindle pretty good.

The rear sensor is located in the middle of the rear axle, at the top of the differential. There is just one rear sensor.

THANK-YOU!!!!

There are great how-to's on this work, highly recommended. There is one thing that can stop you in your tracks: The front ABS sensors are attached with small 12-point bolts in a restrictive location. Only one tool will work, and you will probably not find it locally. It is a 1/4 drive socket, 6mm, 12 point.
