New problem with the Trac. When I start my truck up in the morning everything works fine. A/C blows cold air like it should. But when i make a quick stop some place and get back in and start the car the A/C compressor kicks on, but it stops blowing air. Then I'll drive for a few minutes (while cooking) with it dead then all of a sudden it starts up again. Anyone have an idea what's going on with my ST? This has been happening repeatedly for the last few days.

 Well I didn't get any input from this site, but I think I my have resolved it myself. I thought maybe I had done something when I installed my new JVC stereo into my dash last week. Checked everything again yesterday, (connection wise) seemed to be ok. I noticed that the fan blower motor would kick on if I slammed the car door hard enough. So I figured it had be some kind of a loose connection on the blower motor. I found where the motor was located which is under the glove box. Connection was right there. Wiggled it a little bit and the fan kicked on. The speed of the fan was kind of struggling, so got some WD-40 and sprayed inside the connection of the plug. It's been a day and a half and so far so good. I haven't had the problem again yet. :D
Maybe someone kicked it while in the passenger seat. I've got some long legs in my family.

I have an issue with my A/C blower and I think it's very odd.... I have a 2008 ST Limited V8 and my A/C works fine most of the time but every once in a while the blower just fades out for a few minutes ( I can still feel cold air in the vents) and then out of the blue it fades back in. I find this odd because it not like it just stops working and then starts back up again it's a soft fade in/out. I have however noticed that it seems to happen more often when I'm going up hill or suddenly excellerating. Any thoughts?

I would first check the Blower Motor Resistor to your fan blower motor underneath your glove compartment. See if the connection is loose. I have a funny suspision that those of us that have experianced the leaky compartment in our ST's from the third brake light might be experiancing moisture currosion. Anamolies like this could create intermittant issues like this. I could have done 1 or 2 things. Replace the whole blower motor or do the cheaper route which has worked for me so far and spray WD-40 on the power connector plug to the Blower Motor Resistor.
Let me know what your results are.

I had to have the blower motor resistor replaced on mine last year. The fan only worked on high. I didn't know what the problem was at the time. My son's Mustang is doing the same thing now. The fan motor itself only knows one speed...high. The resistor slows it down based on what position you have the switch.

I pulled my blower motor out and found that it had a bit of rust going on inside. Usually I would say its time to replace, but I thought I would give 3&1 oil a shot. See if it can bbuy me some time. Blower motors are ruoughly a $100. I'll see if it starts acting up again. What led me to believe this was my blower motor is that when it wasn't working I would tap it underneath its motor housing and notice it trying to start and it was making a little ruff noise in the process. So far after pulling it out its been working good. But again I'll see how it goes for the next few days

I have also been having an AC/fan issue: lately the motor sounds like a jet engine. Unfortunately, I do not have a jet engine under the hood. I have read that it is possibly a cooling fan clutch problem? But I wanted to make a post on here for STs specifically and see how to solve this problem. (if this should be a new thread, I apologize)
It is a loud roaring sound and used to be solved by adding coolant, which my 4.0 seems to love (unrelated issue???). Now it is doing it whenever the AC is on. It gradually gets louder as I accelerate. Adding coolant helped a little last time but seems to be doing this more consistently now. Thanks for the help!

Your problem sounds like something else going on. Keep in mind I am no expert on anything mechanical. I just try to do as much research and trial and error to save some coin. My issue was with the blower motor that is located within the inside compartment of the truck. Not under the hood or anywhere else but literally underneath the glove compartment. Mine would make noise but more like it was scraping and struggling to fire up. If you are describing a jet engine (and I could be wrong from your decription) does it blow hard only on level 4 or is it like that on all the levels. If it is not firing up on say for example 1 & 2 but 3 & 4 are taking off like you say "a jet engine". Then I would think that your Fan Blower Motor Resistor is bad, which is a seperate item from your blower motor. This is located near the blower motor but not actually on the motor itself. This controls the different levels or speeds of the blower motor.
Let me know if I'm correct in your description.
Mine so far since I last messed with it has been flawless. So I know I pinpointed the issue and now know what to do when it actually does die.:D

It is doing it on all levels. And yesterday I drove home from work with the AC completely off and the windows down to listen. It never made the sound until I pulled into my neighborhood. Seems to only do it after slowing down then accelerating again. So it is making this noise when AC is on any level and when AC is off as well.

Thanks for the advice... keep it coming :)

Sounds like to me that its not your ac fan but maybe your radiator fan.
I bought my ST a couple of months ago and though I love my ST, I've already have had a lot of mechanical repairs done to it. Fortunately most of it was done with in the 60 day warranty the dealer gave me. One of which was the replacement of the radiator. I read there have been known issues with that item. Mine was a leak. So they swapped it out. I've also have had them replace the third center break light which come to find out that was a known leak issue in our ST's. That would explain why I have a bit of interior rust. And I've had the transmission looked at as well cause it was acting funky which ended up being a computer firmware update issue that seemed to fix the problem. Runs very good now and wouldn't think of getting rid of it. They are good vehicles that need some tlc and then their fine. Most people see my truck and think its new.
Anyway I would at least try to track down where the sound is coming from and definitely get it fixed if you can't do it yourself. I'm fortunate to have a mechanic who takes care of all my cars in my neighborhood. If I couldn't figure it out, I'm at his door step.
Keep me updated on what you find.

After a little more research...

http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/E...cooling_system/radiator_leaking_coolant.shtml

This is exactly what mine is doing. Also when I drove yesterday with the windows down I could smell coolant. And a while back my temp gauge went crazy, but hasn't since.

I am fortunate enough to have an uncle who is a certified mechanic... I guess I'll be visiting him soon before this becomes a more major problem. I also purchased a warranty when I bought the truck used one year ago. So hopefully I won't be spending too much.

I'll be sure to post an update to any who are interested. Thanks again.

I wonder if the radiator is the same item in a v8. Cause those were all v6 in the complaints.

Mine is the 4.0 V6... sorry I forgot to mention that! My fault.

Update: I took it to my uncle's shop this morning. Took him 2 seconds to see that the thermostat housing was leaking coolant. Hopefully that is why it was making the loud blowing/roaring noise - because it was over heating. Was about $50 to replace new.
Will post an update if necessary. Thanks for the help again!

That happened with my 03 ST.

My problem is my AC/heater fan is vibrating at high speed the dash and gas pedal vibrate what is causing this and is it easy to remove the fan motor. 2008 adrenalin

I'm not sure what is causing the vibration. Could be debri, could be a busted fin on the fan. The removal is pretty straight forward. Just go under your glove compartment you'll see it. Disconnect the power from it. I believe its held in with 3 or 4 screws. The screw towards the back left is a little difficult. You have to remove a little plactic tank back there that is snugg up with blower fan. It too is held in with one screw. After that it should just drop out. Then examine it. See what you find. So far mine has been solid. Since I pulled it out and put 3&1 oil in it.

Just to update, fan is still working. But I noticed that when I put it on high a smell comes through. Probably a mixture of burnt bearings and 3&1 oil. And I can hear a small ticking sound in general when I lower the stereo. So I decided to purchase a new Blower Motor. I found a new one online for $48 and change from AM auto parts. A part that usaully costs $100. Well hopefully I don't get what I pay for scenerio.

Just the fact that I saw rust inside the motor chamber made me just a tad concern anyway.

I'll keep yawl posted.

I have the same problem with my 08 explorer-it only occurs when I go uphill and resolves when the car is level again. I think we have the same ghost that is afraid of heights.

Popped in new blower motor from A&M Auto parts. So far working really well. No smell, quiet and the air is blowing out really strong. I keep it on level 1 with the ac turned down (warmer). Didn't have to do that before. Works good for me especially being here in sunny south FL.
