AC compressor issue

The compressor clutch comes on and off when the ac is on and when it cuts off it creates a whineing sound. Any simple fixes to this or am I going to have to take it somewhere to get fixed.

Sounds like the bearing is going bad in the compressor. If that is the case time for a new compressor.

The bearing is actually easy and cheap to replace. Rent the clutch tool, pull it and the bearing off. Replace and reinstall. You don't have to mess with the charge.
