Its peak summer here in Dubai, I have notice that my XP is not giving Cold Air whenever I'm on Idle like trapik Jams.. But once it moves it's back to normal cooling. Which part I need to check?

Is it not blowing cold air or no cold air at all? I would check the voltage at the battery at idle.

Is it possible that you have a fan problem?

Good luck .......

it is blowing air but not cold during idle. Fan seems OK since Im getting cold air when the car is moving

Howmuch will be the normal Voltage during Idle if the ACis running??

Battery voltage should be up around 14 when the car is running, if the charging system is up to par.

You might be low on freon. Does your compressor's clutch cycle very frequently? You have R134A freon in your system. Have you also checked the resistor that is near the blower motor? That part controls the speed of the blower by varying the amount of voltage going into it. There is a section called A/C, and heater that this thread should be in.

I checked the voltage while idle.. it shows 14.08 volts, freaon seems ok since its cooling good while running fast

There is a sight window on the ac system that you can check for bubbling. If there are bubbles you are low on freon. A vacuum problem could also affect the vents that control the temp of the vent air.

Maybe you have a problem with the vacuum motors that actuate the various doors in the duct system.... maybe they are closing of the AC for some reason.

I would wager it's got nothign to do with the AC. If the system works well on the open road, but not in traffic, it tells me that the system is operating properly, but it's not effectively radiating that heat to the atmosphere through the condenser coil on the front of the engine.

I suspect that the engine cooling fan is not moving as much air at idle as it should, therefore, the condenser is not being adequately cooled (either that or it's packed full of bugs and dirt and debris.... check that first).

There are two options: You could try replacing the fan clutch (between the water pump and the fan itself) or, (and this would be my suggestion) replace the mechanical fan with an electric fan. The electric fan will move more air at idle than the stock fan which will keep the engine cooler. Additionally, if wired properly, it will cycle every time the AC compressor cycles, again, moving more air across the condenser coil at low speeds.

Those would be my suggestions.

thanks for all your comments.. I'll check those advices

99 xlt 4x4 225,000 AC blows cold for 20 miles and stops vent air seems slow. Cut AC off wait 20miles blows cold again for 20 miles. anybody been through this. 96 Sport 400,000 miles stock system blows ice cubes from day 1.
