Ac On..ac Off...ac On..ac Off?? Help

I have a 99 EB SOHC V6 Explorer with ATC...I have had some issues with the fan not wanting to kick on the front vents so I purchased a new speed controller and it fixed my problem for about a month. Yesterday we was driving on a trip and the air felt like it wasnt very cold then all of a sudden it started being very cold then it shut off! ... fan and all....then a few seconds later it kicks back on and runs...cold....then shuts back off...then back on...it kept on doing this all day ...run some ...off some and when it was on you couldnt control the speed ..wide open and cold......at one time it was off for almost an hour and half before kicking back on...all the display shows max ac 60 degrees and fan on high ...but no control and no guarantee.....please help!!! thanks

ps....just to make note the rear fan never shuts off ...but its not cold either unless the front is running

Sounds to me like there is moisture in the system, have you had it charged lately. Perhaps they didn't evacuate the system properly. A little moisture freezes on the expansion valve, raises the head pressure and it shuts off. Also if you are low on freon it will cycle like that as well.
