Hi Guys,

2006 Ford Explorer Limited - V8 Automatic - 85,000 Miles

My Explorer seems to be stumbling a bit under load (on-ramp uphill, etc) but not really noticeable with normal around town driving. I have noticed a bit more of a 'clunk' when I am almost stopped at a light though.

Think the trans is going bad or do I just need a trans pan drop and service?

Thanks for the opinions!

There's another thread about 6 speed transmissions you should check out. Probably not going bad, but may need to be re-flashed at the dealership. The stumbling could be from a bad "Throttle position sensor" located on the back side of the throttle body. I just replaced mine ($75) and cleaned the heck out of the throttle body while I was at it, and it runs much better now!.

You're issues may not be all that bad.
