I have a 94 sport 5spd and i was wondering if laggy acceleration was just a common problem with the 5spd. Also i was wondering what else i could do to remedy the lack of oompf in the take off.

could just be your driving, not that i would know how you drive.....but its usually the driver that makes a manual tranny vehicle slow

What gears do u have?

4.0=slow ;)

For all i know the gears in my X are stock, and i have seen a 4.0 run pretty fast. Mine is a 94 with a locked posi-rear, thats the way i bought it. I was thinking about duals and stuff like that but i am not shure that the money that i would spend on that kind of modification would be worth the money. I am just wondering if it would be a better idea to save for longer and then just go ahead and slam the supercharger on it the only thing with that is the fact that my engine has almost 75k miles on it and i dun wanna have to replace it. Please just lemme know what kinda stuff is easy to do and also improves acceleration.
Oh and about my driving, i do know how to make a car perform. i have had the opprotuity to drive some very fast sports cars, and although i did not get the same times as the owners i think that for the first time in the car i did pretty good. Not that you were attacking me in any way.
Thanx again for your help and all of your advise.
Aaron

the explorer is not a speed demon car.

I know that the X is not designed to be a super fast auto, but i would like to have enough torque and engouh oomph to pull me out of the mud/muck/sand/what ever else. I am just wondering if the acceleration thing is really common or if i should have it looked into.

i think IMO the explorer has sufficent torque , i believe what it lacks is hp

The explorer lacks NEITHER. The explorer is PERFECT. The explorer OWNS YOU. BOW TO IT! :D
I agree, a little more hp and my SOHC would be purrfect! The torque is fine, just don't expect michealin ltxs to pull you out.
