'23 Explorer PHEV ST-Line
I've been looking into the forums online for the information regarding the adaptive headlights on the Explorer PHEV 2024 editions. The sync doesn't have the setting at this moment, but when using Forscan you can see that you can change the settings. I've been looking at this forum: Adaptive Head Lights - Coming to the US???

Does anyone have experience with switching the headlights to these adaptive settings?
Is it possible for the ST-Line PHEV editions?

Welcome to the Forum. :wave:
I think the term you are looking for is Matrix. Many U.S. vehicles already have what they refer to as 'Adaptive Headlamps', including your 2022.
Although there may be a setting for what you are referring to, I doubt that the headlamps themselves are designed to accomplish what you aew asking about.
Here is a thread that you may find interesting.

Exactly you could be completely right on that. Although there are no settings setup on my car to for example define left and right driving traffic as would be possible with the adaptive lights. Would you know anything on that?

Here is what the manual says about Adaptive Headlamps;
"ADAPTIVE HEADLAMPS (IF EQUIPPED)The headlamp beams move in the same direction as the steering wheel. This provides more visibility when driving around curves."
That is not the same as Matrix Headlamps. The Aviator has 'Pixel' lighting which adds to adaptive lighting in that the headlamp beam adjusts with speed. At low speeds that light pattern broadens and as speed increases, the light pattern narrows. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...usg=AOvVaw0tSan_o-x-2pSp_jDKlq0c&opi=89978449

I don't use FORScan so I'm not sure what you can see or change.

If what your asking is switching your standard headlights to the Adaptive Headlights found on the Platinum (at least here in the USA) you can't. The modules will not play together.

I believe he's asking about upgrading the adaptive headlamps to the Matrix type. I believe his Explorer has the adaptive headlamps, but there seems to be an issue with his terminology.

Well there are no matrix headlight options for our cars nor any retrofit options so I too am confused what he's trying to say.

Hi both, I'm indeed talking about the matrix lights. I believe Peter you are probably correct. The only thing I'm not sure about is that according to other forums I've seen that people had the matrix lights indeed, but the feature was disabled within the software. I'm mainly wondering if there are people who have changed this within the software using Forscan and what they did.

Matrix headlights require a very advanced software and headlight system. Our cars do not have that. You may be referring to Bambi mode, but I haven’t heard of anyone saying Matrix headlights were possible to unlock via Forscan.

As 2020FordRaptor stated, the Explorer does not have matrix-capable headlamps so there is nothing that can be done with FORScan or any other software to enable them. It's an entirely different system as far as I know. I'm guessing it will be a few years before matrix headlamps become widely available
Canada legalized them in 2018 and left it up to each manufacturer whether to use them. In the U.S. they were legalized in the infrastructure bill passed in 2021.
