Hi,
Nice to meet you all, This is my first post in this board, I am thinking about add a 4WD H mode into my control trac system.
I live in Canada, I drive on the snow and ice in almost the whole winter, my 96 limited 4.0 OHV has only three drive modes: 2WD, 4WD L and Auto 4WD.
First, on the snow, I will never use 2WD, I feel it handles no better than the 2WD car in snow, I won'tt use 4WD L either, unless the snow is thicker than 10 inches, otherwise I have to pull over and switch to 2WD or Auto 4WD before entering highway. I left with the only choice: Auto 4WD, I found it reacts very slow in icy road, when rear wheels start to spin it will take a while before the front engaged, drive above 40KMPH (25MPH)on snow is not very stable as 4X4s with 4WD H.
Is it possible for me to add in a 4WD H mode into this truck? since the auto 4WD already has a wire connected to the transfer case, it will engage the clutch in the transfer case when rear wheels spin, Can I just install a switch in the dash, and use it to control the clutch in the transfer case? So in 2WD mode if I turn on the switch, it just engages the clutch and lock the front and rears wheel, just like the 4WD H does, is this feasible?
Thanks.
