Is there a way to add bluetooth to the factory radio?
I have the factory single disk radio with satilite. I don't subscribe to sat-radio so I was hoping there is a bluetooth adapter I could hard wire into the radio in place of sat. I still want to maintain AUX for mp3 players that don't have bluetooth.

if you are just looking for BT audio.. there are cheap addaptors that plug into the 3.5mm aux jack they are usually between 10-20 bucks ... if you dont have the nav unit then it might be cheaper and or easier just to replace the head unit with something with more functionality

Those things run on batteries, I was looking for something built in. I do not want to replace the radio, I like a clean factory appearance.

i was in the same situation as you, but had the factory navigation, have had the explorer for 4 years now and since day one i wanted to add bluetooth.
Ford mobile Ease adapter was too expensive, didnt want another adapter and wire running through the dash, wanted to keep factory look, but eventually gave up on staying with that "Factory look" and found a refurbished Pioneer Avic-X950GH on ebay for $350, the unit is refurbished from Pioneer directly so looks and works as good as new and even have a warranty, i couldn't be any happier, hard drive based navigation, bluetooth audio, SD card audio, i asked the guy that installed it to place the microphone inside the overhead console so the mic is not hanging anywhere and looks "factory"

I hard wired mine in so that it did not run on battery's... the dongle hid in my console so I could turn it off and the charging plugs were all free since I ran new wires to supply power

I have successfully spliced an aux jack into my factory unit via the satellite feed. I believe it was a grey and purple wire I slit. The link below was about as close as I could get to schematics. I singled out the speakers, since ford uses the same colors, then just figured I would trial and error.

Just a heads up, when all said and done you will always have the display scrolling the phone number to call and subscribe to the service. Only when SAT is selected of course. Irritating enough that I plan to buy a new head unit. I also get a little bit of feedback through this connection, which others don't notice, but I sure as hell do. So, if you're looking to hardwire in, you've been warned. I've done this with an H3 as well, same results.

I just put a BT in my 2007 Explorer with the IPOD connections. I used a kit made by Isimple and it was a piece of cake. I use the factory radio for the IPOD and use the preset buttons on the radio to answer the phone. TOOK LONGER to find rhe tools to put it together than to basically do the job. The IPOD tells you the songs and artist with the BT giving the phone# of the person calling. Very glad I went this route for about $145 for both kits. Only thing showing is the microphone mounted above the wood grain center dash panel. Hope this helps.
