Already have AAL's + Shakles on the rear of my Ex. Wondering if its possible to add another set and kinda double them up in each leaf pack to gain another inch or so. Thanks in advance.

i know you can lift the rear with AAL's and shackles.....but how can you lift the front without killing your wallet? are body lifts a no-no with these? ive done them before with good result (the correct way too, as in moving all nesscesary components)

Dom

Do a TT up front for 2 inches if you are 4x4 if 2wd then 3 inches by cranking the torsion bar bolts. A body lift is an ok way to lift the body of an explorer

Yeah what about the original topic. Can you add more than one AAL to one leaf pack? Thanks.

You can, but I wouldn't. As stiff as one AAL makes the leaf pack I would think two would make it unbearable. Why do you need another inch in the rear? A better alternative would be to just get a custom leaf pack or maybe a leaf pack from another vehicle like a F-150 or something.

Actually my ride in the rear is perfect as of right now with just one AAL in each side. I think that I personally wouldnt mind the ride with another but was just curious if you can do it "safely."

The reason im wanting to add another AAL is because I was at my buddies shop (your gonna laugh at this one) and was getting balljoints done and other maintenance done and he took it for a test drive and said it rides stiff (which it does since the T-bars are maxed out.) He said that the reason it was like that is because my shocks are maxed out and I needed to get longer shocks to make it ride better.

Well he came up with this magic idea to make it ride better by adding in a spacer to the top of the shock to kinda compress or move the position of the top of the shock. What he used as a spacer is the funny part. He came back to me with 2 short sockets in his hand and said that they would work. Well he was right. Rides better now but also gave it another 1/2-1'' of lift. Just wanting to match up the rear now because the front is bulldog. OK, you can laugh now.

I have a 2" T-Bar twist up front too and ran stock Ford shocks for over a year and have been running stock length (they were the same length as the stock ones when put side by side) Rancho RS5000 shocks for 4 years. Even with the front swaybar off I have never run out of shock in the front.
I'm not understanding how adding sockets to the shock (I'm asuming to the top) gives you any lift also?? All it should do is compress the shock more so you have a little more shock for down travel, but the shock shouldn't max out anyway. I'm completely lost on this one. :(

Summit Racing has a double add a leaf for sale. You can look it up on their website. I would think that would be a safer idea than just adding two regular aal's together.

Thanks Rhyno ill do that.

Splashman, I dunno how it did or what it did but it added more lift cuz the front is up now and it also rides muuuch better. Before without the sockets in the top of the shock the truck wouldnt go up any higher when hitting a bump. Now if you push down on it, it goes down and then higher than it was just sitting there and then back to normal. Before if you push down on it, it would just go down and then back to where it was. I need to take a pic and e-mail it to you so you can get a better idea of what im talking about.

Will do. At work now but when I get home ill get it. Thanks again.
