Hi all,

Been gone for awhile. I have a question for you all.
My brother owns a 99 GMC sierra. Yea somehow the only non-ford person in our family.
Anyways he wants to add Cruise Control to this truck. What is the best aftermarket system to due this with. The only ones that I can find are at jcwhitney. And they look cheap. Thanks in advance for your help!

I dont know about that. I'll call him tonight when I get home.

Was it hard/easy to install the factory kit? Thanks!!

You mean that cruise control these days are optional? I thought in a GMC Sierra, that in would have been standard. I thought cruise was standard equipment these days.

Any way, I agree with Okrazie1, ask a GMC dealer for the factory one, or I believe Sears use to sell them.

Another source would be a truck/auto accessories store. They usally sell that kind of stuff there, at least the ones where I am from do.

Well he got a good deal on this truck. Is a Work truck, 4x4 has everthing but Cruise and power windows..

He already put in an aftermarket power window system that works really good. if you didnt' know it was oem you'd never guess is wasnt'!

The kit install was not too bad. It took me about three hours. I found out later that I could have made it even easier. I did not know that the factory wiring was already there, so I ran the wiring harness included with the kit. Another member on the forum found out about the wiring already being in place and called Ford about it. Unfortunatly, the instructions included with the kit didn't point this out.

Thanks for the information! I'll look into that option .
Due you remeber the cost of the factory one by chance?
Thanks!

I paid $265 for the kit. Sounds high, but it came with the steering wheel mounted switches, back trim cover for the steering wheel, clockspring assembly, servo assembly, servo-to-throttle cable, wiring harness, all necessary hardware (brackets, bolts, etc.) and detailed instructions.
