- 94 XLT 4x4 Exploder
I need your help to decide whether to buy this motor. My 94 XLT 4x4 has the 4.0. It has a whole bunch of miles. Like 243K now. Runs ok, (more on that)
I have a chance to buy a 4.0 that they say came from a passenger car but it will fit my Explorer. Is that right? Complete long block with all the stuff attached. 80K miles.
My 99 XLT takes the 8th Vin "E", but this 94, is a 4.0 a 4.0 no matter what it came out of? Van, car, truck?
If they are all universal, then I will go get this engine.
OK, my misfire has been solved. Turns out the plugs are all worn out,. No wire tips. I swapped in 2-4-6 but 1-3-5 will take some more work, I might try it this weekend from underside.
What I thought was an injector, or a head gasket or a head or intake, turned out to be worn out spark plugs.
