Admin Console Swap

I believe I have Sync 1 , since I have Bluetooth, hands free and I can see my trucks location on the gps map of Ford Pass. I bought a Sync 3 module and wire harness. I also have an 8” screen, just to test that it works, before I spend any money on the 12.1” screen.I’ll probably start the project next week.
excited to see your work!

Does anyone know the wiring harness part numbers for the civilian center console? I'm considering leaving the front panel blank, and moving the rear controls to the back of the admin console so my passengers can control their heating/cooling.
I have found the replacement back panel - LB5Z78045E24CD, but cannot locate a wiring harness as its not in the diagram.
I want to wire the contoler for the rear seats as well as supply USB/AUX ports to the rear interface panel.

So I opened up my console center to verify my AHU was there and not in the back, it was there..
I then opened up the rear panels to see where I need to transfer the AHU to and found something there already.. It might not be in exactly the same place, but I have what appears to be a heater core and motor in the back passenger location near where the AHU should be going.

I really want to get a salvage Explorer now to pull it apart.. See where everything goes.
Edit: Reviewed the Component Locations, turns out I was not looking in exactly the right place. It appears it should be mounted a little further back on the same side.

Also, based on what I see connected to the AHU, there should be more cables that lead to the back of the vehicle than just the antenna module..

Can you post some pics of what’s inside the rear panel ?

Did your truck come with the heating controls for the rear, or are you adding it ? If you added it, did it need to be activated in Forscan ?

Can't ATM. Its all put back together as I need to go to my Dads for a cookout.

However, this is the cable I am referring to.

The part in the diagrams labeled 18812A comes back as L1MZ18812F. Unless the photo being used is a stock photo, it does not appear to be the same. There is something we are missing in the diagrams we have.

Edit, it came with them

This is not mine, but an open interior so you can see the rear passenger (left of photo)

This is from a gutted cruiser.

This however is from mine.

showing where I believe the AMU should be mounted on the back wall behind the rear HVAC blower.

Dont know if you ever came up with a solution, but I’ve already done this swap. That unit you are trying to relocate controls the radio in the PUI, and removing it doesn’t give you any fault codes, but does mean you have to drive in silence. What i did was remove the board from the ACM unit’s housing so that i had the board by itself. Then i removed the cover to the center console, and fastened the board as closely to the front of the console and fastened it down and plugged it in. Then i put the admin console cover back on to cover it all up.
Have you had issue with the relocation of the ACM.? I removed m ine from the metal housing, that circuit board gets very very hot. i think it would melt plastic and would effect the longivity of the unit without the metal box to disapate the heat. I boight a civilian console but no way will it fit in, i need a new top plate of the console, 500 bucks canadian, plus I need the platic trim that is between the console and dash ubder the radio controls. the 2013-2019 explorer was an easy to add the factory console.

What is the part number for the top plate?

Thank you for your suggestion Peter. I just ordered from.local dealer 511.50 plus 15 % tax. ETA 7-10 days from USA. I have ordered parts and shipped to Maine. But I have to pay sales tax for any purchase to the state of Maine. Plus 15% canada tax when I cross Canada border. Then there is the USD exchange 100.00 USD = 138.00 Canadian so almost 40% exchange rate. Now going through replacing PI grill for ST grill. Not going so well. Haha. Should just paid 72,000 for new explorer ST...if you can even find one in Canada.

Hi everyone, I just saw this forum. Tbh, I started this project back in 2023, and had faced issues for all the questions mentioned above. A few days ago I decided to restart this project and I found some really helpful resources. I am wondering if we can have a groupchat for this specific topic. I am also very interested in adding adaptive cruise control and Lane keeping assist. What i already done is to add an aftermarket AMP/DSP to this radio, which is way better than the B&O one. Anyone interested, send me a message. I could open up a Facebook messenger group if this is allowed by our forum admin.

Adaptive cruise should be a piece of cake! Just run the canbus wires from inside near the dash to the siren wiring where the console would go, bonus since you can pull fused power from there and send it via the siren cables.

If anyone is looking for a VIN that would allow them to lookup parts for the admin console.. Just saw this one listed on an auction site. 1FM5K8AC2PGA17483. From the photos, it appears someone removed the console and all required parts before it got to the auction site, but you can see the SYNC3 component under the dash.

I had also found this one that had the 12.1 inch screen 1FM5K8AW3MNA14450.
