I noticed the other day that my wheels have these little white squiggly lines under the clear coat. Mostly on the inner part but it is creeping to the front part as well. You can't feel it either it is under the clear very weird. I only have 5000 miles on the truck and it only went through half a winter. Has anyone else had there wheels start to pit or bubble I don't know what to call it. The dealer is going to have to replace them I am guessing the clear is defective or something.

i have the same problem, it gets worse very quick. all 4 are showing signs of it. some worse than others. let me know if the dealer works with you. i have 19k miles so i dont have as much of a case as you.

If your under warranty then they should replace them this is ridiculous there is no way a wheel should look like this after such a short amount of time.

No I'm on call this week so my truck is sitting at work I have a take home vehicle. I will take pics on Monday.

BigV- i had my explorer in for an oil change and had them take a look. service guy acknowledged my problem and said i will have to bring it in for the service director to take a look. He said if it were him, he would have all 4 replaced. Sounds like they may work with me on mine. Hope the same luck for you.

They better work with me I bought 3 vehicles from them and my in laws bought 2 they owe me. This better not be a problem!!

Stopped by the dealer at lunch for the service director to take a look. he ordered me replacements and they should be in this week.

BigV, sounds like the dealer should accomodate you as well given your history with them.

I really hope the new ones hold up better, this certainly wasnt from neglect on my part, I am a freak about keeping it clean and maintained.

I hope they hold up better as well I only have 5000 miles on mine.

Props to the dealer. As many times as we hear about s**t dealers, at least one handled it correctly. :)

Wow, that sucks guys! I have to take a look at mine tomorrow morning.

Wouldn't they be covered up to 3 years and 36K?

Crossroads Ford (Cary/Raleigh, or VA) wouldn't have done anything. Wouldn't do anything about my interior plastic peeling or my step rails discoloration. They have sorry customer service. :thumbdwn:

My wheels are in and will be put on tomorrow. I will try to snap some pictures tonight of my current wheels. I know someone requested pics.

-as for the 3yr/36k warranty comment, yes the wheels are covered if it is considered a factory defect, in this case they did deam it that. but i could see a dealer also say it was due to "environmental factors" or misuse if they wanted to be jerks about it. As clearcut as most warranty claims "should" be, dealers tend to find a way around it.

I have had a good experience with my dealer thus far, in return i have gone to them for oil changes which i normally would not do.

That's pretty bad. :( I hope it doesn't happen again with the next set!

That is rather interesting...looks a lot like a stress cracks. Definitely not something you want to see on a set of wheel no matter what it is.

I have a 2000 mounty and all 4 of my wheels do the same thing. theres like big peices of the clear coat missing. They really look like crap and i have no idea what to do. Im thinking of sanding them down this next summer and then painting them black what you think?

I got my truck back tonight with 4 new wheels, new tpms sensors etc...very pleased. finish looks top notch, lets hope they stay that way.

the truck came with the weights on the outer lip from the factory (which sucks) but the dealer put the stick on weights on the back, so that was a bonus too.

Bender that is exactly what happened to my wheels not as bad as yours but then again i only have 5000 miles on them. So as I suspected with time it will only get much worse. I agree it is the clear coat and I am going to tell them to use the sticky weights as well. I just have not gotten around to going to the dealer yet maybe Monday.
