My new pride and joy has about 140k miles on it. (5.0 V8). The truck is in very good condition so I plan to keep it for a few years. It has a leaky main and seems to be a little weak. It might run for another 50k, but no way to know.
So I'm thinking in the spring (if it holds up), I'm going to pull the engine to fix the main seal and probably the pan gasket. If I'm going to all that trouble, I'm thinking I should just do a rebuild and have something nice for the next 5 years, and not have to worry about it.
Anyone have any experience on what I can do to the engine to get more economy? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money. Just simple things like a roller cam, and maybe porting the heads. Thoughts?
