Ok So have any of you owned/seen Lanzar or Pyle Video Equiptment for your cars? I am looking for a decent in dash motorized monitor... somethign with a built in TV tuner... nothing too perfect or expensive. Obviously these are cheaper and I dont expect super high quality, but Im wonderiung if these brands are worth what they are asking for them...

I dont know... it just seems like a good deal and I am only looking for something that I can use when stuck in traffic (for the gf to watch, not me) and that sort of thing... like i said, I dont expect Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood quality... but yeah, any comments? Thanks...

This TV/monitor looks pretty good for 500. But some things ive just seen when looking at the picture. There is no CD slot (you will have to buy a seperate HU) which for a 91 there is no double DIN (i know because i have one also) so now your looking at around 700. Then if you want a dvd player thats another 150-200. So now where up to 900. Then dont forget your power inverter for your DVD, Playstation, etc which will run you from $50-100. SoOOO now were at about $1000, which is only if you want it to be "Home Therater" like. Never know, you may just want a DVD player, or whatever. So maby this deal isnt looking like a good one now. Just the way im looking at it. Your probally better off with an external LCD (200 or less at (dead links) a DVD player, and a power inverter which will run you about only $500 or less. Later

I hear ya, but then again, I am mainly just looking for a in dash unit with tv capabilities... no dvd is necessary... I already have a Pioneer Premier HU, would they work togehter? like run the audio out of the Lanzar into the Pioneer to run the sound? Does that make sense? And I would mounth my pioneer in a custom made slot somewhere...

Most of the specs you will have to find out from others that already have the unit or from Lanzers site:
Dead Link Removed

But theres not a lot of info there. It does have audio out so you can connect it to your Pioneer (if it has audio in or aux in) other wise ive seen this thing thats availble at best buy, crutchfield that you connect your MD player, etc and tune your HU to an AM channel and theres the sound. You could build an angled box that goes under the center concole, on that hump between the driver and passenger.

Yeah that is a thought, except I have a 5 spd, so I need to mount the pioneer somewhere else... Yes, it does have aux in (almost 90% sure)... so the main concern would be... locating somewhere easy to access that I can mount my pioneer in... bc I CANT keep it mounted in dash since that is where the Lazar would go...
Also, you mentioned an external mount screen... thats a decent idea, BUT there is no real ideal location to mount it... the in dash is great bc its in the center of the car... I have a first gen (91-94) so there are not a whole lot of cool nooks and cranies... yeah... haha...
So that was my thought on this stuff for tonight... Im loking for a job, and I really want to become an installer, or work at a custom type place, but I have NO experience in that stuff and most of the places around here are staffed by their customers basically lol... oh well...

As far as mounting your Pioneer goes, you could either get an underdash mounting kit, which will have a plastic housing that you can mount under your ashtray, which screws to the dash, and wouldnt be in the way of your shifter, or you could somehow mount it in the center console.

On own a pyle dvd/cd/mp3 player and it works great for only $191. you could go with a overhead flip down screen put up in the front on your roof so you can have cd player in the factory spot. Under your seats could work too not the best idea but it would work. You can get power inverters that will run gaming systems, blenders, vcrs, etc.. for only $27 off ebay. The overhead monitors will likely be about the same as that one you are looking at mabe cheaper. A brand to look at for that is called "audiovox" big names like alpine, pioneer, clarion, etc... will be looking at $850 and up.
