Hi All,

I am hoping I can get some advise here or find the answer.

I have an automatic 92 xlt ford explorer.

Have just replaced the intake manifold gasket.

After doing this, the engine when first started staggers( like it's choking) a bit and then after a few minutes of driving it clears up and just takes off.

Today I had the fuel filter, spark plug cables, transmission filter and oil changed.

Still having the same problem.

Is there someone out there that can give me an idea of what it might be?

I would certainly be happy to hear from you.

Kind of sounds like a vacuum leak. You might try to spray some carb. cleaner around the new gasket area while the engine is running and see if there is any change in RPM or smoothness. Recheck all vacuum hoses for cracks. Is your check engine lite on? Good luck and keep us posted.

thank you

thank you 1IronMike, I will certainly try this and see what happens.

No, my engine light is not on.

1IronMike, I tried the carb cleaner today and is still having the problem.

Any other idea might come to mind?

does it die down a little before acceleration when you hit the gas pedal?

It does sound like a possible loose vacuum line.

If we help you fix the problem, can we come and visit?

btimby, no, it doesn't die down.

Once the staggering, missing, choking, clears up, it just picks up speed.

Positive Vibes, you are welcome to visit any time.

We have beautiful beaches and abondant rainforest. :)

I've been wanting to go to Belize for over 10 years now.

Does the truck smoke or loose any fluids?

Well, now you've met some in Belize maybe this is the time to come to visit (-:

I'll be happy to help you plan it.

Thank you cculter, I'll check on that.

Positive Vibes, do you have any suggestion for no smoking or loosing oil in my vehicle?

I'm just checking if anyone else has a suggestion.

You have any other info? Maybe try and describe the symptoms in more detail. One thing I do if my truck runs strange or the CEL comes on long trips. I will disconnect the battery for a couple of hours. This resets the ECU and can clear things.
