Does anyone know if the aerial we have is amplified?

I've removed the head unit and installed a PC under the back seat with a touch screen up front, got a USB radio stick and attached a car aerial extention to that but I'm just getting static, It's been suggested on the car-PC forum I use that this is probably due to the aerial needing power which it normally get from the head unit.

cheers,

Graham.

On my '97 it is just an ordinary standard aerial

I wondered that as I took off my broken electric one and replaced it with a rubber stubby- the reception is not that good in some areas where it was fine before.

i toke the fuse out for my ariel due to the winding mech breaking it was left in the up position but my radio signal is poor now ive since fitted an after market stereo and its stil not that great..............sounds lik a good instal your doing tell us more or add pics please

cheers guys.

looks like I might of cooked the radio with the soldering iron then :-(

It's a pretty messy install :-) hacked the radio slot so it was big enough for the screen which is held in place by strips of mecarno and duck tape, works well though, hope to add mobile internet soon so I can listen to cmt radio online.
