Ahhhh...I'm finally back in the land of the living after a year away, and in the comfort of my womb like Explorer...'tis bliss...
Anyhoo, as I am back and with cash in hand, I've decided that if I'm going to waste it, I'm wasting it on the car!
I've got a whole bunch of mods to do, which include guages and aftermarket tranny filters.
Now, I've read A LOT of what the site has to offer, but I just have a few more Q's.
Actually, maybe just the one...
I've got a perma-cool aux trans filter. I also have Splitfire guages (cheaper than Autometer here in Australia...AM guages are great, but the dollar couldn't compete at the time...)
Anyway, if I recall corectly, the permacool fitting has a 3/8" screw hole thingy.
But the sender on the guage is much larger (1/2"). The probe doesn't fit, let alone the coupling for it.
So my question is, can I just source a 3/8" sender/probe thingy and cut off the existing one on the guage to replace it? no harm?
the guage is mechanical, so i'm assuming that the sending unit is just one big piece of copper or something, so it really shouldn't make much difference...
Did I make any sense? so tired...so very tired...
hope you can help,
BK
