I've got a Kicker Comp VR witha Rockford 900 watt amp left over from the previous car and was wondering if its possible to hook it up to the stock cd/tape player. it has the premium package in it i believe. I tried to splice the RCA cables into the door speaker wires like i did in the Contour I used to own, but it dosn't like that at all. is is possible to hook it up or should I just put up with the stock system?

A/M subs to Factory Stereo

It is very possible.
Go to your local audio store, and tell them exactly what you are doing and they will hook you up with a in line ouput converter. It splices into the rear speaker wires and sends the signal out the RCA cables, to your A/M amplifier. I picked mine up for $20. Made by a company named "SOUNDGATE". Check out this link,it takes you directly to the device.

Any questions let me know.

sweet! thanks alot, ill check that out this week!

Thats what I did before the after market deck. You'll be happy with a sub and the factory speakers. It sounds fairly good. I have a 10 and ppl think i have a whole system.

Yeah I got 2 JLAudio 12 w03 w/1200 watt amp. Sounds good.

Well, I called the only soundgate dealer in the area ad they want $45 for the in line output converter!! Where did you get yours? $25 sounds much better and i may try a few other things to see if i can avoid getting it if its going to cost me that much. Is there any other place you guys know of on-line maybe that I can get it? Also, my sub is pushing 900 watts peak, and most of the ones That i have seen can only hold 80 watts per channel. Am I going to be able to run my sub off of one of these things or will it draw too much power?

Not sure about the power part but I got a line converter at WalMart.

like a previous poster said, check out walmart. best buy. circuit city. any car audio shop. it doesnt have to be made by soundgate, they all do the same thing(converts a line signal to a rca signal.) just so you know, most rockford amps have line level inputs on them so you can probably just tap into the rear speaker wires and hook it up that way. just a thought.

Well, I got the scosche box from walmart. works great!! my sub is happily pounding away and now I just have to fine tune it a little. thanks everyone for the help!
