Has anyone ever put aftermarket seats into an explorer? I have a 1998 explorer sport 2 wheel drive 5 speed and I cannot find a bracket for the seats. Also I am looking for ideas on what to do for the brackets I'm guessing I just have to make them from scratch.

Put bucket seats and used some steel to modify stock brackets

Thank you. I used 1/4 thick 2 inch wide steel to add on to the sides of the stock brackets and bolted them to the aftermarket seats and they fit amazing and I love them.

Pics of your set up dude!!

Thats what we did. And has held up last year or so

I feel dumb. I cannot figure out how to upload a damn picture.

Just upload it to a photo site like Photobucket and then post the IMG link here.

I'd like to see some pictures of this ive been thinking about installing some type of after market seats but im worried they'll sit higher then the stock seats do now. Those of you that have them did you make brackets to mount the seat to the stock seat track?

Im also really interested. I want leather seats since they're easier to keep clean but cant find a donor ST with leather

Yeah, Photobucket and then using the "insert image" option to post the link.

I took 1/4 think steel plates 2 inches wide and I drilled holes into it to match the stock brackets and the seats it sits a tad bit higher than the stock seats but i love the seats they are used seats out of my buddy's RX7 FC

I also put field turf as my floor mats everywhere except on the drivers side because its a stick and the turf kept getting caught up on the clutch.

I put 4 fox body mustang seats in my merc. I had to cut the factory explorer bracket down. I cut it two inches. I recommend one inch. They sit low, but it is an off road truck so I don't mind.

Have any of you wired up power seats? Ive got the base power 4 way driver seat w/ manual recline and the passenger seat is full manual. I was kind of hoping to get some heated seats as well so the windows can stay down on cold wheeling trips :D
Anyway how hard is it to wire up fancier seats to the truck?

If I dont go with power is the easiest thing to just swap brackets from my ST to the new seats? And how exactly does that work? You guys talked about modifying the bracket a little but I couldnt really get a picture of what you did in my head.

Putting bucket seats in the front is easy compared to ripping out the rear bench seat and putting them in the rear to.
Becides loosing a inch or two of leg room in the rear seats, its worth it
