You definitely want aftermarket shocks. You'll notice a big difference.

For the motor, I haven't seen anything that anyone has done that impresses me. You're not going to get much more usable power or much better gas mileage from any accessories for the 4.0L, in my opinion. At least, not enough difference to make it worth my money. You may want to open up the exhaust a little more with an aftermarket muffler which will help a little in gas mileage and sound better. That's pretty cheap, so it's a good place to start.

For more performance (and more money), the best thing you can do is an SCT programmer. From what everyone says, this seems to be the most bang for your buck.

thanks for responding. just were im from either every1 has a lifted truck or a fast truck lowered and i wanted something to stand out also if you know what i mean. i have already put a aftermarket set of rims on it. which look pretty good i went back with the orignal size. and put a small system underneath the seat.( a bazooka 6 in. bass tube with 100 watt amp). and currently working on l.e.d lights inside the truck under seats and fog lights. is there anymore apperence ( interrior or exterrior) stuff you can think of that i can do. and as far as the exhaust i am wanting to dual it out. but i have not heard anything from any1 on that. idk what to get or look at i want a deep rumble but not a pissed off bumble bee. thanks for the info and help

well you can go with the main brands either Flowmasters or Magnaflow or find whatever suits your needs. Youtube has some good sound clips of the truck; to get a dual exhaust you can always take it to a shop and have a custom one put on. As for standing out, its endless what you can do to a truck; besides you drive an ST, no one tricks these things out!

Gipson exhaust has the same tone as a magnaflow (better imo) and cost half of the magna. If you want some fake duals look up heart throb exhaust. They make a cat back/ Y pipe so it looks like duals, sounds better than stock, but doesnt really open up the power like duals would.

also if you want it to sound better, try putting a new air intake on it, doesnt have to be a K&N, ebay has some cheap ones that you build yourself with the parts they send, and they work ok for being $50 instead of $250. Other engine things are kinda gimicky and wont work very well. The tuner OffTrac brought up would be your best upgrade, but it costs like $400 if im not mistaken.

as for the motor, a quick, easy and relatively inexpensive thing you can do to improve performance would be to get a cold air or MAF intake. I have a K&N 77 intake and there is considerable difference in HP and fuel efficiency. im noticing an increase in 1-2 mpg with the K&N intake as opposed to the stock intake on my 02 ST, not to mention you get a much nicer sound when you smash the gas.

that is what i have found is (FAKE) duals for the exhaust i would like to put TRUE duals on it. but also dont want the high pissed off bumble bee sound like the street cars have. and i have looked into the air intakes and there are so many to chose from only being 17 dont know the differance in them all so left it alone all together. i am haveing a friend that works at a body shop build me a cowl hood for it also

cant go wrong with K&N as far as intakes go. they are pretty much the standard. i have heard volant is pretty good too for trucks. post pics of the hood when you get it done.
