Today i got the cover off in my 95 explorer and the stock subwoofer is blown. I have a Alpine 10' Type E subwoofer in a single enclosure Probox and i was wondering if i could take the wires that are hooked up to the stock amp, strip them, and hook the Alpine up to my stock amp (i already wired the wire from the sub under my carpet leading into the space next to the amp.

So my question is, is it safe to wire an aftermarket subwoofer to the stock amp and will it power my aftermarket sub.

it would be ok as long as the final impedance isnt too low for the factory amp.

we put it in today, for a stock amp and a 10' it bumps pretty hard

For now it will work just running a sub through the speaker wire, but it probably isnt so good for the sub since all of the rear sound is going to it instead of just the bass with a crossover.

It will be just fine...the stock amp for the subwoofer does not output a full range signal.

^^ yep. he just replaced a sub with a sub.

its working great, my friend told me that the stock amp is 160 watts, does anyone know if thats true
