My factory ones are very rusty and i think they have some pin holes in the outside lip.Is anyone using aftermarket ones ? do they fit under the stock intake manifold ? Does anyone sell new factory ones ?

Fox body cast valve covers fit. Barely. But they fit.

Do you have a link to them ? I have searched the web and found so many varieties of ford covers my eye's burn.I noticed napa and autozone each sell a pair of chrome covers that they say fit the 96-01 explorers but you may need a intake spacer ?

Not to question you but how do you know they fit the gt40p in the explorer ? Wouldnt it be better to get a set from a sn95 5.0 ? I know they dont have the spark plug wire holders on them but i can work around that.
Because I have them installed on my 01.

I did have to build an oil filler neck to get around the intake tube though.

Interesting. How did you get around the missing wire holders ? Do you have a pic of this setup ? Did you have a longer neck welded on the cover or did you extend it with a rubber hose ?

I made a longer neck out of sections of a coolant pipe from between the heads of a Chrysler 2.7

Had about perfect bends in it. No wire holders as have torque monsters so they had to be rerouted anyways.

I'll try to find a pic. I'm going to change it though and weld the pipe directly to the one pressed into the VC. Getting some seepage from the rubber connector since i had to pull the baffle to clear the scorpion rockers.

Very interesting and random from a chrysler 2.7.I am familiar with that engine a bit. They are junk so it should be easy to find that part .LOL.I thought you could get taller gaskets for clearance issues ?

Not in this case. The scorpion rockers are massive and hit the sides of the covers. I had to cut quite a bit out of the mustang covers to clear them

Yours must of had those ribs in the sides.

If you are old like me and remember the early 1990s when Ford first brought out the Mustang Cobra, it came with roller rockers. Well the factory changed the cast aluminum valve cover to work with the roller rockers.

I have a set of F2 (1992) Part number fox body valve cover on my 94 Gt and guess what, they are smooth on the inside, no ribs. I didn't have to anything to run my 1.7 stud mount roller rockers.

Anyway, just a fun fact that most guys don't know.

I was born in 86 so i don't recall any of that lol.I did here from someone that the valve train was noisy on the cobra motors and maybe some valve covers were changed to quiet them down. Not sure if thats true.

Correct.

At the time my truck had already been down 4 months waiting on springs so I was a bit determined to get it back together. I found out the stock covers didn't fit right at the end so I grabbed the first set of reasonably priced fox covers I could. Trust me I would have loved to get the newer ones

I don't remember anything about them having noisy vale trains but since the covers have a 1992 part number and the cobra was made in 1993 I kinda doubt they had anything to do with it.
