ahh, squeaky seat driving me crazy!!

hey everyone. recently my drivers seat started squeaking when i sit on it, when i brake, and when i accelerate. got any ideas on how to make it stop?

mine is loose and the reclining handle broke off. funny i never even used the friggin thing..........BUILT FORD TOUGH!

HA, never thought of that. My handle broke off too. Of course the seat was reclienced at the time and I had to jimmy-rig a screwdriver to get it back up.

I'm looking for the easy fix. Didn't look like it could be just fixed.


As far as your squeeky seat......

I would start with good ol' WD-40

Don't know if your 95 is like my 99 power seat. Mine squeaked just like yours. I raised the seat and found the squeak to be at the front left of the seat where the under seat bracket attaches to a rod that runs transversely along the front of the seat hardware. I hammered this area lightly to bend the bracket then sprayed the area with 1lube (what I had handy). Killed that damn squeak deader en hell.

no, i talked to other people that had the handle break off and they said its a ***** to replace. i'm gonna get one from a junker and replace that and tighten up the seat all in one shot. i'll get around to it when the seat breaks off goin down the road.

can you let me know how you replace it? I'm not going to pull my seat apart unless I know it's an easy fix. I'm almost wondering what a leather pwr seat cost? The leather is kinda wearing from getting in/out.

i personally can't tell you until i do it my self. it's gonna be trial and error, but i'll let you know afterwards.

I have the squeaks too. I have pulled the seat a couple times and sprayed it with no luck.

Replacing the recliner handle is a super easy job, for those with early explorers, ford updated this part, new one is stronger. 50.00's for a new one from ford.
Oh, my passenger side seat sqeeks when there is no body sitting in it, 3 in 1 should do the trick, wd-40 stinks too much.
