According to http://www.automotiveforums.com/t161664.html code 12 is Low Battery Voltage. I was able to pinpoint my code 44 problem using this chart.

Must be something in the WNY air that does it, 'cause I've got the exact same problem with the locks on my '96 XLT OHV6. All doors UNlock just fine with all methods (keyfob, keypad, 3 interior switches), but will only LOCK with the rear quarterpanel switch. When i press lock on the drivers door, lock on the keyfob and 7/8,9/0 on the keypad it DOES activate the antitheft system, though. My autolock doesn't work either. WTF???

I haven't investigated it too much, and as truly informative & helpful the forum usually is, it hasn't been much help with this particular problem.

I checked with Ford and it'll cost almost $250 just to find out what is the problem.

that something in the air is decay my firend :D . No really where in buffalo are you at i am in franklinville but did live in black rock for quite sometime not called crackrock what a shame. :thumbdwn:

Good'ole BlackRock - I'm downtown (W-Side). You lovin' this weather or what?

Do you get the AntiTheft light when you press the lock button on your drivers door?

Anyway, when i talked to the rep at Ford, he said that, with Ford's geniuses, some of the wiring is laid beneath the carpet near the doors and possibly the culprit. I haven't taken the initiative to pull back the carpet to look for degraded wires.

Another user said that there is a harness toward the left of the brake pedal where, when he was having lock issues (similar but not the exact same issues), he found that there was a wire or two that had come undone. He was supposed to eMail me a pic of the harness a while back but forgot. I haven't taken the time to look for the harness myself, nor have i looked at the master switch as a possible problem.

In browsing through the schematics (sp?) in the Haynes manual, it looks like everything eventually filters through the GEM in the dash. It also appears that from all the doors (& hatch), the wiring leads to the master switch...?????

I've got other issues going on right now (EGR (but replaced it all) - it likely will not pass inspection), so i haven't been able to go any further with this...if i do i'll let you know what i find.

fix the airbag light?
