After I installed my PA lift my air bag light started flashing either a code of 52 or 25 (5 flashes a pause then 2 flashes). I had taken the battery out and the 3 fuses and I hooked the battery back up the way the Haynes manual says positive first then negative.
I called one of the Ford dealerships and they told me I need to bring it in to have the computer reset for a charge of $70.00. I was hoping there was another way to do it. I have a 95 EX with the 4.0L. Please send help.

First make sure that you didn't leave or accidentally disconnect a cable to an air-bag sensor behind the front bumper. If everything is back together properly and your '95 is like my '97 is, the light will go off when it completes 256 successful self-test diagnostics. It performs the self test diagnostics each time you turn your key from off to run. When I accidentally set off my air-bag light, I unplugged the fuel-pump shut-off connector so that the fuel pump didn't cycle everytime I turned the key on and then turned the key from off to on 256 times. It worked. Disconnecting the battery will not since the code is stored in the SRS computer which has its own backup power supply.

By the way, I set my air-bag light when I had the air-bag fuse removed and then turned the key on. I put the fuse back in but the light stayed on until I performed the steps listed above. It sounds like what you might have done. In that case then your air-bag system is OK, but until the light stays off it is disabled. If you just let it go off on its own course, 256 starts could take 6 months to a year. If you do it yourself like I did, it takes about an hour and doesn't cost a dime.

It happened to me to when I put my body lift on. I just waited for me to start the truck 256 times for it to go away. It took about 2 months for it to go away. I was told that the air bag will still operate until then.

Thanks for the replies, I will start counting today!
