Hopefully this is the right forum for this question...My airbag light is staying on in my '99 Ford Ranger 3.0L. I have the passenger side airbag shut off, don't know if that is doing it. After I start the truck the light appears to be flashing a code. It will flash 2 times, pause, flash 7 times. Last I checked it would do this about 5 times before it would stay on constantly. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

a 27 is a B1884 or B1890

1884 - Passenger AirBag Deactivation (PAD) warning lamp inoperative

1890 - Passenger AirBag Deactivation (PAD) warning lamp short to battery

is the PAD light on or off??

Al, thanks for the reply and link. Cjones, I do not believe the light is on. I have not been driving the truck very long, so I was unaware there was an indicator light. I can tell by the position of the switch that it is turned off, but no light is on. I will check to see if the bulb is bad. Thank-you for the info.

LFC 27 is almost always caused by a burned out bulb in the PAD switch assembly. The bulb is not available separately from Ford (it is soldered to a circuit board). However, you can get a replacement bulb from Radio Shack or other electronics supply house and solder it in yourself.

How to

Airbag Light

I have a 99 Ranger And Was Having An Issue With The Airbag Light Coming On So I Did Some Research And Found Out The Reason For This Was Because The Passenger Airbag Shut Off Key Switch Bulb Was Burned Out. So I Took Apart The Mechanism Of The Key Switch To Get To The Bulb Which Is Soldered To A Circut Board. I Unsoldered It and Took The Bulb To Radio Shack To Get a Replacement. The Bulb Number Is 272-1097 Which Is Contained In a Three Pack. After Getting It Home I Soldered The New Bulb To The Circut Board And It Lit Up Again And The Airbag Light Went Off For Good. No Problems since Then And Its Been About 3 Months.

Hope This Helps Someone!
