Thank you both for helping out.....here goes nothing! I am going to try to replace the airbags myself and hopefully that will fix the issue! I will update after I try it out.
Get the bags AND module, disconnect the battery... wait 15 minutes (turn on the headlamps to be sure there's no residual power), remove and replace both bags and the module, key off reconnect the battery, turn ignition to "ON" but keep your head away from the front of the steering wheel the first time as a safety precaution. It will do a self-check and the light will go out if there are no faults. If it blinks a code again post it.
