I was recently dirving my explorer on the freeway only for about 15 miles, and it was 95 degrees out. I had the Air conditioning on. I started to smell a burning scent so I got off the heerest exit. My car was smoking from the Air Condition clutch.
I had my step-dad look at it and he told me its shot and I need a new one or dont use Air condtioning anymore. Me being a kid, I tried it again in my driveway to see if it would work a week later, but it made screeching noises and sparks were coming out of it. So, that was the end of that.
Now I'm going to get a new one, because I've had to sit out way too many days in a hot black explorer. My question is how much are they, how hard are thay to install, and if really hard...how much to get one nad get it installed?
Thanks Alot
Tim

Tim.... they take speial tools to remove, but with those tools it is not difficult. See if Autozone has the tools...BUT!... it may not be the clutch, your compressor may be seizing up. I'd be hesitant based on what you have told us to just assume it's the clutch.
