Hey guys. New here but have been reading your tips and suggestions for awhile now. Came across a problem I havent found a solution to on here yet so I figured it was time to join and ask a question. I will be sure to help out where I can in the future.

Anyways. My 2006 Explorer XLT's AC doesnt work. It is fully charged but the compressor doesnt kick in. I tested for voltage at the pressure switch on the accumulator and nothing. I have checked all fuses and they are all still good. Diode is also good. Not sure if I need to check the relay in this case though.

Any suggestions on where to go from there would be appreciated as I am going to be doing a 13 hour drive with my 3 kids in the next week or so..... AC would be really nice.. LOL

Could the pressure switch be bad?

I had a taurus SHO that had a similar issue. It turned out that the compressor clutch was getting weak. All that was needed for a test was to use a broom handle and give the clutch a shove, and it would engage. There were 2 shims between the clutch and the pulley, so I pulled out the thinner one, and it worked great after that.

try to loop the sensor on the low pressure side where u fill it to see if the clutch will actually engage had to do this on mine i ran mine with it looped but im sure its not good for the compressor but it will give you an idea of whats actually wrong
