air filter v8

i have a 1996 v8 x, and i would like to change the air filter in it
the filter i have in the truck right now its the stock paper filter with a drilled housing, when i drilled the plastic mounting... i washed the engine bay yesterday and the filter got washed as well, i need a quick replacement BUT i dont want to spend a whole lot i look of money, looking trough ebay i found this

is this filter any good? what do i need to do to my truck to install it? what other parts would i need to get to install it? is there a better filter i should be looking at?

You get what you pay for in this situation. It will work; you'll need to remove the factory air box, remove the MAF from the air box, use the adapter to bolt onto the MAF, then attach the filter. I didn't see any brackets to stabilize it.

Do yourself a favor and get a cold air kit designed for the vehicle. The described kit you are looking at now is low quality "one size fits all applications" deal; IMHO you are better off with the stock air intake set-up rather than this item.

well i bout one of those the other week, and i got it to fit my 2000 5.0 but i hade to redrill the bracket, on the 96 your gonna have to redrill it as well as get some 3' silicone hose and some clamps. also if you want it ill sell it to ya, i have an extra that is not modified yet.

Suspicious deal- I'd personally stay away. Notice the support bracket- this also acts to isolate cooler air rather than pulling hot engine compartment air.

There is a different design for 96-97 and the others. So make sure they send you the right one and no modifications will be necessary.

i looked at the one on explorerexpress but its more than i want to pay i guess i will just keep on looking on ebay untill i find something good for a decent price!
