Hey guys,
Maybe someone here can help me with this diagnosis... Whenever it's a warmer day, and they've been few and far between lately, I get a really loud annoying high pitched whine coming from where my air filter sits. I've got the KKM conical one...

Any ideas on what's causing this?

With any cone filter you will get this wine because the air resonator is no longer there. Older model cars had the resonator after the airbox and newer ones are before the box sometimes in the fender like on most of Fords. Nothing to worry about. I know when I had my 300ZX that it was pretty loud and when you turned the car off you would hear it screech. You should of also noticed that your X sounded louder at revs and start up after replacing the box with the cone.

I have had the same thing lately, but just on those 85+ days. I pulled the filter off, tried cleaning MAS, the filter itself, even the intake tube. Nothing works. Why is it it only happens on warm days? And mine only happens at idle, once I open the throttle even a bit, it stops.

I run a KKM on my 99 here in HOT Florida and do not get any noise from it; until you floor it.

Al,

You've floored it? That's not your style.
