it has nothing to do with the air filter. it's your IAC, or Idle Air Control valve. It needs to be cleaned or replaced (most likely replaced). Very common problem, and very common to these forums. I'd just get a new one from Ford and replace it.

BTW, could you please reduce your signature to 6 lines as per the rules of this site? Thanks.

Alec thanks

thanks for the tip, the question i now need to know is how much do they cost?

thanks Frank

Hmmm, I think they are a bit pricey. Ford, around 130, parts stores around 80. I think it's worth it to get the Ford one in this case though.

It's really easy to replace though!

Oh, and the search feature could've gotten you that info :)

wait, wait,wait!

Dont replace the IAC yet, man. There is a little breather filter on the side of it. Look just past the throttle body and there is a little black cap on on the IAC. It is a crappy littl filter and the plug up easily. Either clean it out with your air compressor or a plastic safe aresol solvent, (free) or replace it with something better, I shoved a little universal fuel filter over it, and that obnoxious humming goes right away.

Cya at hollister.

one more thing...

Heads up frank, you must limit your "signature" to 6 lines. Just lettin you know before a moderator yells at ya about it!

Happy wheelin'
