Air Intake Help

Im looking to get a K&N Intake, and i am probally going to have a friend who knows his stuff to install it for me.

But i was told by another friend who knows his stuff that i need to make sure that something gets reprogramed. i dont completly remember but it was something about a chip and computer

someone please help me out, is it true?

I would suggest a custom intake, Check out Spectre modular intake parts. Much cheaper and easier and the same results. Your friend was probably talking about getting your computer(in truck) tuned to accept the added airflow the intake is delivering.

You do not need a PCM tune for just an intake. But it never hurts to have one.

No tune requried. Just bolt on and drive. In my opinion the knn is to expensive, and i tend to shy away from oiled filters, to much oil could foul your MAF sensor, and they are a pain to clean. What i did was buy a cheap intake off or ebay called asmi or their direct website www.autospeedstore.com. They offer their basic intake, or their tube and a knn filter for a bit more money. I bought the basic intake, ditched the filter, and bought a amsoil dry flow filter.

which ever intake you decide to get, unhook the battery while putting it in or just wait until after your done installing the intake.leave dis-connected for about a half hour,then re-connect the battery.then start it up and take a ride! this will reset the computer and re-learn the air flow measures as you drive with the new intake in.
