I'm new to this site so please be gentle...

I would like to know if anyone knows how to modify the airbox in a '97 V6 SOHC to get more air into it. Right now the air opening is so tiny it's almost embarassing. Is it possible to cut out the back or the bottom to get more air in? How about widening the hole and creating a port into the fender or front grill for more cold air? if anyone has ideas or has done it please let me know!!

Thanks

-John

go with the kkm intake, it just removes the whole airbox and uses a cone filter. great for a first mod or something. just do a search on the site for kkm

One of the most simple ways would be to simply cut holes in the airbox, it's been discussed numerous times. Also, idk if it is the same kind of set up as an OHV, but my friend rigged his up using zip ties so the drop in K&N filter didn't have an air box around it (if that made any sense).

I too agree with the KKM suggestion. Its a relatively cheap and very effective mod.

Good luck.....

or till you can get the $$ for a kkm/k&n:
