Yes, they help with power, and a little mileage if you're careful with the go pedal.

I found the MAC intake on my 5.0 helped with a solid 1-2MPG gain, a nice sound, and a little bit of added performace. I didn't expect much, but am quite happy with the results.
An open-air intake isn't a supercharger, but it is a worthwhile upgrade.
