Air Suspension System

Just traded my original '91 Explorer (103k) for a used '98 EB 5.0l AWD w/Automatic Ride Control. What are the spec's on this air suspension system?

I tow a boat (3,800#) or a Travel Trailer (4,500#) and would like to know if there are any tricks? I have found it easier to connect with the system off, lowers the ball, but is it best to tow with it on or off?

i would leave it on while towing...... it should help the car level itself out

I tow a 18ft boat with mine and I always leave it on when I am towing. I havent noticed anything with it while towing that would make it any different.

i heard that if you have the air level suspension, you cant buy other shocks, but have to spend like 400 for each special shock.. is this true?

If you're going to replace the air shocks with standard gas charged shocks, then you are fine but you have to turn off the compressor and disconect the air lines and tuck them away after plugging them...and maybe disconnect the power to the compressor....if you are going to replace the air shocks with more airshocks then that may be a slight chore because you have to get the right length (inflated and deflated), they have to have the same air supply fittings on the shocks and they have to be relevant in the psi they can air up to.
