I've been having an airbag warning light signal for sometime now. The light when KOEO blinks 4 times pause then 2 more, I assume thats code 42 is this right. I've checked this connections under the seat, cleaned and relube all and still same code. What else could I check and could anyone tell what this code is.

I have this same problem...

front impact sensor. located in lower grille under plastic trim.

I just, like 5 min ago, fixed this problem. Check the front sensor. Its located in the middle of the lower grille. I found mine had a corroded pin. I cleaned with electrical contact cleaning spray and then applied a dab of electrical grease. Another poster had to replace the sensor along with the harness. I was lucky and was able to clean it. We will see how long it lasts!

I have the airbag flash code 42 problem also. Could you describe a little where it is located so that I may find it quickly? Is there only one sensor or is there 2? Is it bolted to the frame in some way? I would really appreciate any descriptive info you can provide

The sensor is attached to an "L" shaped bracket which is bolted to the lower radiator core support. I was never able to see it, only feel it. It is basiccally right behind the front license plate and bumper. I believe there were two screws (10 mm socket) holding the sensor and bracket to the frame. The new sensor from Ford comes with the sensor and bracket assembled. My sensor had corroded so bad that is broke in two pieces. Luckily I did not have to replace the electrical connector in the carbody wiring harness, just had to use electrical contact cleaner to clean it.

Hope this helps.

PS if the connector is corroded just replace the sensor. The sensor will eventually fail. The corrosion wick up into the sensor and damages the sensor itself.

Matt,
I know that this information will help, I plan to look for mine today! I will update the post with any info that I have after replacing mine so that it may benefit others.
I appreciate this forum and I especially appreciate your help!

Thanx...

No problem Sno,

I was not thinking when I did mine this summer. I should have taken pics of the job and the old part.

I will do that for the both of us!

Matt,
Thank you for all of the help. your information helped me locate and repair my sensor. As promised I took the pictures, but cannot post them because the forum does not give me an option. Anyone who needs them can email me (via this message) and I will get them to you right away. In the mean time here is a description; The sensor is located right in the middle of the front of the vehicle, in the opening below the front grille, directly in the middle of the opening between the fog lights (if you have fog lights). It is shielded above by a "ledge" and you must get down low and look directly into this opening to see the sensor. From the bottom, laying on your back under the front of the vehicle there is a plastic cover secured with 3 christmas tree style push pins. By removing these 3 push pins you can look up and see the sensor. The two bolts that fastened mine were #8 metric. I used a 1/4" ratchet and about 18" of extension to reach it from my position under the vehicle. Remove the bolts, unplug the sensor, plug in the new one ($68.00 at the dealer), bolt it back up. You are all done!

Hopefully this information will be helpful to someone else!

Regards,
Sno
