Today i was driving my x and then i realized the airbag light was on.
I know its hard to say what it could be, but does anyone have an idea of what it could be for me to check it out. The truck i just bought last week (thursday) and i really don't want to leave my truck at the dealer. BTW it has 29,x..

You have to count the flashes of the light when you turn on the electrical system (before starting the vehicle). The flashes represent a stored code. Check WWW.VeryUsuful.Com for the codes numbers.

thanks i'll check that out now, but the link u gave me is invalid it saids

I can give you a heads up that the very useful airbag code list may be off by one or two digits for our Explorers.
I have 34 code come up a few times, I have unplugged and then replugged the pass side connection under the seat and the light has gone off.
The connection under the seat is very fickle. For grins, when I had no airbag light on, I smacked the pass seat as hard as I could. Then the airbag light illuminated and gave me a code 34.

Generally speaking for the Explorers, an airbag light is either the connections beneath the seats or the clockspring. Majority being the seats.

ok so i tried going on that site but all i see is info. for stangs.
I counted how many times it flashed and it does it 3 times. Hopefully its the seat connector, i'll check it out later

dumb question, does your horn work...if not, i believe it's a code 32...

Yeah it does work, i checked the plug under the seat and its fine really do hope its nothing major don't want to leave my baby at the stealership:(

you said you got a code 3...you need to try it again and wait...it should read out a 2 digit code at least 2-3 times and then it stays on...;)

I just bought my Explorer with 55,000 miles and after 2 days the airbag light came on. I noticed when I move the driver seat all the way forward the light does not come on? Would it be the connectors under the seat?

Yeah Thanks. This is a very informative forum. Anyway I will check that this weekend and let you all know the outcome. The dealer that sold me the truck said they would take care of, but I'd rather try to fix it myself if I can.

if they will take care of it, let them, imo...the cost of parts would alone be worth it, plus it's warranteed if that is not the only problem..;)

Yeah tru. I'll mess with the resistor, if not its going to the dealer. Cant mess around with safety. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Any updates on this? I'm trying to take my light out too...

It went to the Ford dealer this morning, I should get it back tomorrow. I messed with the resister under the seat, it would stay off and then sometimes come back on so I sent it to Ford, under warranty. I'll let you guys know what it was.

I got it back this weekend. They had to change the airbag pretensioner wiring harness - $450. Good thing it was under warranty. No more light;)

...i am taking that is a clockspring???
