Recently my airbag light came on and displays a Light Flashing Code of 33. From my search through the forum I discovered that this light is triggered by a fault in the driver side seat belt pre-tensioner.

By my findings in past posts, I checked all the wires under the seat (all looked fine), and unplugged and plugged back all the wires.

If I were successful by simply doing this, would the airbag light go off on its own, or does it need to be taken somewhere to be reset?

A lot of the time it's triggered by the yellow connector with the resistor under the seat.

Anyway to repair it without having to take it to the dealer and have them replace the wiring?

Unplug the connector, clean it with electrical contact cleaner spray, use antioxidant cream, then plug it back in.

Thanks! I'll give it a try later today.

I only see one yellow connector under the seat so I'm assuming that's the one I'm after. The write comes from under the carpet under the near middle of the seat.

I just got done unplugging the connector and cleaning it. Airbag light still on. Do I have any other options at this point?

I'll post some info about this when I get home tonight. You might have to replace the pretensioner. It is available at the dealer.

I figured I might have to give in to that option eventually, but I wanted to give all of the free stuff a try before I threw in the towel. :D

Unfortunately, I don't have an Ohmmeter. One of these days I'll get one.
Here's a cheap meter for $5 on sale: http://www.harborfreight.com/7-function-digital-multimeter-92020.html

It's hard to pass that up for only five dollars. Went ahead and ordered it. Shame that shipping is more expensive than the product itself. ha.

The airbag light on my wife's '02 Explorer only comes on when I drive it and put the seat all the way back. It only does this once in a while, always assumed it was a connector, but since it does not come on when she drives, have not messed with it.

I was having an issue like yours. It wasn't the connector, but the wire was getting kinked when I moved the seat so I taped it real good and it hasn't done it in over a year!!!

I wish my wire was kinked! Maybe I will just put some electrical tape over that stupid light until I can get it fixed haha! :D
