Hi guys I noticed on my 2008 Ford Explorer XLT the airbag light suddenly stayed on after start up, I read on here that if it flashes there is a specific code. The airbag light only comes on when I start the car the first time for the day and its solid. Once I turn off the car and restart it, I won't see the light on till the next day. I am thinking its probably a defective sensor, but anyone else know what it might be?

Your battery is failing.

If you drive a short distance, turn off your ignition and restart, the light will not stay on. Your battery has enough charge to stop it from happening.

Just as well plan on buying a battery - shortly.

That is what happened to me and I just kept resetting it and the one day my battery was dead. I replaced the battery and it has not come back on.

That makes so much sense because I can't think of any reason for anything to just malfunction suddenly! I think the battery is around 2 years old, but I am not too sure for all I know it could be the original battery. Thanks guys will keep you updated when I change the battery.

The exact same thing happened to me in my 2010 Ford Explorer XLT. I read online that if it flashes, then it is a code which could relate to loose wires or other problems. However, mine just stayed on if it was the first time that I started my Explorer for the day. If I started it again, it would not stay on. I knew that my battery was going dead because of the time it would take to turn the engine over when turning the key, so I just had my battery replaced. The air bag light has not come back on since.

Sorry guys I forgot to update you! The next day after I replied to the post, the battery had died! So got it changed and the light went away! Now I don't have my explorer anymore just sold it yesterday, it was a great SUV and didn't have any troubles. It is just that having two cars didn't make sense anymore especially a 7 passenger SUV when there were hardly more than 4 people.

2010 Ford Explorer airbag light

Hi guys I've been reading the post about the airbag light I have a new battery and I'll check the connections under my seat and I cannot get the airbag light to go out. The light you should just come on in the morning when it was cool or in the late afternoon when it was really hot. Now it just stays on and I don't know what to do can anybody give me some advice that I have not already tried?

Mgaul001 if you have a obd 2 scanner that can do airbag codes then scan for airbag codes. If not maybe your local autoparts store may have a scanner that will do the airbag codes.also the scanner can clear the codes and doing that will turn off the light.
