My girlfriend has a '95 eddie bauer explorer with the airbag suspension combined with weak leaf springs and the airbags have started leaking and the front and rear ends are sagging so im going to go to the auto wrecker to get some leaf springs from a regular explorer, install them on hers and take the air bags right off. My problem is that im not too familiar with torsion bars. I assume the bars are weak just like the leaf springs or they may just be adjusted with less tension. So when i remove the airbags can i just crank up the torsion bars to give me the factory front ride height or should i replace them with the bars from the wrecker explorer? And what should the ride height be after im done?
Also, will the wrecker explorers shocks bolt in where the airbags used to be or are they different lengths?
