When doing an Airbox mod, the battery has to be disconnected to reset the pcm, and the pcm will " relearn " an compensate for more air... How much can the PCM compensate for?

For instance, if I find a way to “ram” some air into the airbox… would the PCM be able to compensate for the extra “boost”?

Thanks.

if you ram air in, you could set codes since it cant compensate past its maximum. same way when you supercharge or turbo a vehicle you need new injectors to deal with the more air flow, and more fuel with a bigger fuel pump.

are you thinking of running a hose to a bonnet/hood scoop?

Got it! I knew there was a maximum, but I didn't know if it was determined by the PCM (software), or something else like injectors and fuel pump (hardware).

Anyway, sounds like a way to test if you pass that max is just doing it and see if you get a code...

Thanks...

Something like that... but the diameter required to "pressurize" the airbox at highway speeds is too big... space is very limited.
