Hello,
We've had this 2002 XLT for a few weeks now, and last night the alarm went off twice - for no reason. Any ideas here? We are in the country, so no electronic interference - and no evidence in the fresh snow either. If I can't get it fixed, I want to disable it. Can it be done fairly easily? I don't want this thing blaring all day while I'm at work. Thanks for any ideas.

Desperate in Ohio,
Ron N

try tightening down your battery cables.. That might do the trick

You can disable the alarm by unplugging the anti-theft module. Not sure where its located in an 02 model, but in my 96 its located in the rear quarter panel right in front of the rear window washer resivour.

Hey Ron, mine started doing the same thing two days ago. Did any fix work for you? Sorry I know this is an old post.

With a scan tool that can access the anti-theft module, there are PIDS called "AL_EV", they will tell you the reason the alarm went off the last 8 times. If you are not having door ajar light problems, the reason is normally the hood switch or a problem with the keyless entry key pad.

so these things really have alarms? i thought it was just a panic feature. wut can set these off as ive had an idiot jump around my truck and yank on the door handles asking me if the alarm would go off.

One of the doors or the hood need to be opened. They do not have any type of perimeter sensors.
