Reposting this in the Audio section in hopes of the steroe guys having more knowledge than me (not too hard).Alarm

I am in the process of installing an alarm and I have a few questions before I do some damage.
1. Where is a good place to put the brain? Its about 5in x 6in x 1.5in. I have looked under the dash and do not see any space under there big enough for it.

2. Shock sensor - I was told as close to the center of the vehicle and as low as possible. Is it OK to place it under the carpet on the passenger side right next to the "hump?"

3. Door Locks - The system has three wires for the door unlock. Can I connect them to just the drivers harness, or do I have to connect them to all 5 power locks? Also, there is a lock wire, an unlock wire, and a +12V out wire. What on earth do I connect the 12 volt wire to? Dies this go to the door lock actuators? Or do I connect this to the battery?

4. Door Triggers - Do I have to connect these to all the door pins, or can I go off of one? I want it to go off if any door is opened.

5. There is a wire for a starter Kill. I need a relay for this. How do I connect the relay to the starter?

6. This has a remote starter option which I would like to use. I need to know where and what color the igntion swith wire that is powered +12v even on cranking and I also need to know the same for the starter wire witch is powered only on cranking. Should I use relays for any of these connections?

The instructions that came with the alarm are very vague.

Im sure I will have more questions as I go through this.

Thanks for your time.

Steven

The people that installed mine were able to ount some of it underneath, connected to the bottom of the steering wheel. Sorta stupid, as this is probably the first place a theif would look.

You want the shock sensor low, because you want it to notice body motion when from an ample amount of movement, without making the sensor really sensitive. This is because, if you pictured the sensor on the roof of your car, if you shook your car a little, the roof is shaking a lot, while the floor of your car shakes a little due to the "radius" of travel, because the roof has to travel back and forth a lot more.

Relays are easy to answer, but you since this is a hardcore question, you should ask professionals. Go to newsgroups, like in Deja.com, and go to the rec.audio.car section. There are tons of people who can help you there. Goood luck!
